Position Title: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Thika Power Services Limited is seeking a qualified and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing preventive, condition-based, and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical machines, equipment, and plant facilities to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues across plant systems.
- Perform daily mechanical maintenance and routine preventive work in accordance with set schedules and procedures.
- Respond promptly to mechanical failures, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict compliance with all HSSE procedures and company safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities in line with Thika Power’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and diagrams for maintenance planning and execution.
- Support new project installations and upgrades as required.
- Maintain tools and work areas in safe, clean, and efficient condition.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a thermal power plant environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and manuals.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems and plant equipment.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Principles is an added advantage.

Position Title: Laboratory Intern
Reports to: QA/HSE Manager
JOB OVERVIEW:
As a Lab Technician Intern, you will assist in quality control of the fuel, lube oil, water and steam used in the plant which involves collecting, testing and analyzing samples to determine the physical and chemical components of all the fluids used in the plant.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Collect, analyze and retain samples as per the internal standard operating procedures and generally accepted industry procedures
- Quality control of all laboratory practices to guarantee accuracy
- Ensure that handling of chemicals and other hazardous products is per the MSDS
- Maintain a database of MSDS of all chemicals/products used and ensure that all product/chemical containers are clearly labeled
- Maintain daily logs and feed daily analysis results into the database
- Visualize recorded data and report any outliers/abnormalities
QUALIFICATONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
