Position Title: Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Reports to: Electrical Supervisor

Job Overview:

        Performs skilled work on instrumentation and control systems in all areas of the plant with minimum interference to the normal operation of the plant. Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, installs, adjusts, and calibrates plant process instrumentation and controls. The role also performs electrical installation and maintenance works to support the mission of the Power plant.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

•     Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of the power plant systems.

•     Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.

•     Responsible for taking corrective action during system operational disturbances and/or bringing such disturbances to the attention of the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.

•     Effectively communicate the condition of the plant equipment and performance to shift charge and fellow plant personnel.

•     Responsible for maintaining the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.

•     Perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety deficiencies.

•     Diagnosing faults and ensuring timely repairs of factory machines and equipment with minimal or no downtime

•     Support planning of new projects and installations

•     Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories in such a manner so as to maximize useful operating life.

•     Perform planned and corrective maintenance, emergency and preventive as directed and as needed and account for all parts and materials, supplies and fluids used in the performance of that work.

•     To develop and maintain tools, test fixtures and documentation

QUALIFICATONS

  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering- Instrumentation & Control Option
  • 4+ years’ experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.
  • Competency on power protection, has worked with solid state relays, commissioning of HV transformers and substations.
  • Good understanding of SCADA, PLCS and thermal power plant instrumentation
  • Any relevant knowledge in Power generation, System protection & Communication network will be added advantage.
